Sandwiched between spring & summer, expect plenty of fresh greens & colour starting to return to the kitchen. There’s very little fruit in season right now but it won’t be too long until we have plenty.

The herb garden will have sprung back to life this month, bringing plenty of flavour from chives, coriander, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, sorrel, tarragon & thyme.

Asparagus & new potatoes are at their best during May, the first ones of the year.

Wild garlic season is coming to a close but there’s still plenty of it about, all of which should be bursting with flowers right now so make the most of it now.

Elderflower will be starting to bud so keep a lookout for their flowers towards the end of the month along with outdoor grown rhubarb.
