Fresh produce in December is a little more limited, which is why we often turn to dried or preserved foods in these winter months, but that’s not to say that there aren’t a few wonderful ingredients for us to enjoy this month.
If you’re growing your own this year then the long wait from spring is finally over & Brussel sprouts are finally ready for your festive dinner plate. Swede, parsnip & red cabbage are all perfect right now, at their sweetest & best following the first frosts of winter. Winter squash will see you through a cold December, as will warming, roasted chestnuts.
Apples & pears are still readily available but as we enter winter we see the return of sharper fruits like cranberrries, clementines, satsumas along with citrus fruits.
Obviously, I couldn’t not mention the biggest feast of them all this month as all eyes are set on the festive season, check out my Christmas Collection for all things festive! From preparations, desserts, dinner & even ways to use up those leftovers, I’ve got you covered.
